Well, I’ll go first with my draft analysis.
I entered last year thinking I was in a good spot for my team to move into contention territory. TLaw was out from under Urban Meyer and with a strong QB HC/system. Winston was starting in NO to back him up and showed signs of getting it the previous year. TE was solid with Hock and Thomas, plus I really liked Bellinger’s upside given how well he comped in measureables and catching ability to Kittle. My WR room was set with Adams/Sutton/Robinson/Meyers and drafting Wilson. My RB corps looked to me like a perfect zero RB squad - Gibson and Mitchell as players with legit fringe RB1 upside, Hunt and Henderson as decent RB2s, and Gus as depth. D was solid with a couple of good FA pickups to bolster the guys already in place.
Then i watched my first 4 weeks go to crap as my RBs completely fell apart. Mitchell got hurt, Gibson went into Rivera’s doghouse behind Robinson and his 3.9 ypa. Hunt and Henderson both underperformed. I would have had to win at least 9 of the next 12 games to even make the playoffs I figured. So it was time to bail out on my two top vet WRs who I dumped for 1st round picks plus. Then SF picked up CMC and Mitchell was an afterthought. Hunt and Henderson both became and still are FAs. Gibson obviously was a CoP RB at best with Rivera. It was time to rebuild my entire RB room. I still was solid at QB and TE. WRs were looking up as Wilson looks like a stud, Meyers a decent WR2/WR3 and Shaheed as a hopefully budding good WR. I wanted to see if I could pickup a Rd 2 WR who could become a solid WR2 to add as well. So off we go:
1.02 Robinson, Bijan ATL RB - Surprised to see him there so traded with TTAC to get him. In a tier by himself in this class IMO, I don’t see him as the best RB since Saquon like some are claiming but I do see repeatable RB1 years in his future. He’s a great fit for a committed running team in ATL, and while he can struggle some running through trash his awesome receiving game paired with his incredible open field running ability more than make up for that weakness plus his lack of legit homerun speed. No brainer there and worth the extra 1st to get him. Plus Allgeier is there so Bijan doesn’t have to get pounded into the turf with too much work.
1.10 Charbonnet, Zach SEA RB - No way I saw Charbonnet dropping this far and figured I’d be taking Miller here in my retooling of my RB room. Legit 3 down RB in the NFL who only lacks deep speed, I had him as this draft’s RB2. Sure, Walker is still in SEA but Carroll wins 1.5 games a season more when he runs 500+ times than when he runs in the 400s. This pick signaled to me that Carroll is going back to pounding the ball and needs 2 good RBs to do it. Geno is more effective when he’s not throwing 40+ passes a game, and while Walker did have the 4th best 10+ and 20+ yd carries last year, he was also stuffed on almost 1/4 of his runs, 4th worst in the league. I see Charbonnet adding a less explosive but much more consistent component, is better in the passing game where Walker is pedestrian at best, and figures to get goal line work the way he runs with power. I can easily see close to a split in work between the two, and if Carroll is going back to run heavy there would be enough work for both to be FF relevant RBs. This was a pick on shear talent that I was happy to see fall to me.
2.03 Anderson, Will HOU DE - Too much talent to bypass, and my DEs needed some improvement. He ought to integrate quickly and well into the NFL game. He arguably was the best player in this year’s NFL draft
2.06 Miller, Kendre NOS RB - This was my RB3 this year just above Gibbs because I see him as the third 3 down RB in the draft. NO looks like a good spot with Kamara in serious hot water and likely facing suspension leaving Williams as his competition. I really like Williams but he doesn’t have Miller’s talent. Miller is very strong between the tackles, can get to the outside, and has a great RB toolbox of spin moves, jump cuts, a nice dead leg, and a toe drag moving through the second level. He’s not super fast but never seems to get reeled in on long runs. Plus he can catch even though he wasn’t asked to do a lot of it at TCU. I never thought I’d see him here and traded my other 1st next year to Def to get him since I had him graded as a later midround 1st round talent in this draft.
2.07 Reed, Jayden GBP WR - This was the guy I initially had targeted for this pick before the draft started. He excels in the routes he’ll be asked to run in the NFL - outs, crosses, slants, and flag patterns. He won at a high rate against both man and zone coverage and was the best against press coverage of all WRs in this draft. There’s a starting spot opposite Watson for the taking and he matches well against Watson’s strengths/weaknesses. Even though he’s not a burner, he’s athletic enough. I can see him quickly earning Love’s trust and becoming a go-to guy. Plus he’s a Packer.
3.03 Kraft, Tucker GBP TE - Again, the guy I had targeted for this pick though I’ll admit I struggled for half an hour debating between him and Schoonmaker. A seriously plus athlete at 6’-5” and 255 lbs and a 9.68 RAS, he’s a very good receiver and tough to bring down once he has the ball. He has a seriously nasty attitude as a blocker and is built thickly below the waist to back it up. He played like a man amongst boys at SDSU and I figure he’ll be targeted for the in-line TE spot while Musgrave becomes the move TE on a team that could be running 12 personnel a lot. He’s got some technique refinement to do both receiving and blocking but he’s not far away on either. Plus he’s a Packer.
4.03 Wilson, Michael ARI WR - Now I’m at the spot where I’m willing to reach a bit. Wilson was sidelined - a lot - by injuries. Luckily none of them were ligament type damage but rather a Jones injury of the foot that he then reinjured. Hopefully it’s behind him. He’s got the build of an outside receiver and when he’s healthy he’s a very tough cover. He looked great at the Senior Bowl practices and game. He’ll need to work on his concentration catching the ball. If he can somehow stay healthy he could be a very nice addition.
5.1 Perry, A.T. NOS WR - I had figured Perry would be drafted higher than he was and I’m not sure why he fell to the 6th round. He figures to be an outside receiver and has good height/weight with good speed and can manage physical CBs. Maybe it’s his inconsistency catching the ball, but we’ve seen guys who dropped some in college learn to overcome that in the NFL and be good receivers. He’ll never be an alpha but put him on the other side of a WR1 and I think he can put up solid numbers that are bankable in FF.
6.03 Kuntz, Zack NYJ TE - Here’s a project, but what a foundation to build on. 6’-7”, 255 lbs and a perfect 10.00 RAS. He’s got to learn the finer points of playing the game and will take some time to do it, but when he flashed those skills in college he sure looked good. He’s headed to the practice squad for a while and let’s see if he can use that awesome combination of size and athleticism to be a future stud at TE.
8.02 Peoples, Camerun CAR RB - Here’s a guy a lot of people may not have heard of, but don’t ask Texas A&M people about him. The 6’-1” 220 lb UDFA out of App St looked very good against Power 5 competition when he played them and helped lead App St to the upset at A&M. He’s a power guy who runs a little too upright like a lot of big RBs, but he’s got good vision and burst, great contact balance and power, and plays faster in pads than his 4.61 40. He wasn’t asked to catch much but showed signs of competence the few passes he had thrown his way. In CAR where Miles Sanders and his injury history are the lead, Chuba Hubbard is the RB2 and there isn’t much else he could find a way to make the team and possibly get some work on the field.
8.03 Nichols, Lew GBP RB - He’s buried on the depth chart right now, but a big back who was extremely productive in college and can be a real asset both running and catching. He’s got great vision, footwork and contact balance. He isn’t going to outrun people and hit homeruns when he breaks through, but he’s tough, dependable and should keep an offense in positive down/distance situations. When Jones and/or Dillon move on this could be the guy to step right in and not have the offense miss a beat. Plus he’s a Packer.
All in all, I’m really pleased with the way this draft went even though Def’s ANALyzer says I sucked. And even if I did suck, which is probable, it was great fun managing to get the crappy guys I did.

The ANALyzer graded your rookie class as the most valuable overall. Your class earned 27,251 points using the KTC value system. However, given your draft slots, the value of the class was projected to be 28,182, netting a surplus value of -931 points across 11 draft picks. Honestly that is not bad at all IMO.

For perspective, across the entire draft, encompassing all 112 selections made, the average selection netted -14.4 points in surplus value. Given that the scale runs from 300-9999 points per pick, this means that overall the league drafted really well.
You netted, on average, -85 points of value per selection. That is still not awful. Although, to be fair, if we remove Bijan, you netted a much less attractive -307 points in value per selection. Not quite as good...

RE: my own draft.
I continue to be stuck in the middle, without elite studs to contend but with too many good 2nd tier guys to net early first round draft picks.
IMO this class wasn’t very good overall: The QBs were fine but next year’s are better
RB has Bijan, but IMO I didn’t have the necessary assets to go up to 1.01 to get him… little did I know. *shrug* Other than Bijan, this RB class is not strong and a few guys were hurt by landing spot.
WR is not only not very good but the landing spots for a couple of them did not help. I personally think Mingo, JSN and Addison will be the best but what do I know?
TE is the position I liked most in this class on Offense but next year has a TE that I personally MUCH prefer to these guys
DT was solid but it is DT
DE has Anderson and then tons of depth but not sure many elite pass rushers there
LB I did not need although I like the top 2 guys
CB is CB
S is the weakest position defensively… not good at all
So I decided early on that I would try to acquire assets in next year’s draft, as I much prefer it and there is 1 particular player I want to ensure I can acquire.
With that said, I moved back 3x in Rounds 1 and 2 to acquire 2024 1st round picks, which should allow me to go get the guy or guys I want to target, depending upon where the picks land.
As for my team, I could use a potential 3rd QB but my top 2 are Burrow and Fields so was not going to prioritize the position at all. I could use another RB for sure, and would have loved to acquire Bijan in particular. Did not expect Chase Brown to go so early, based on his ADP and the Bengals claiming they will stick with Mixon this season. I also wanted DeWayne McBride, but was unable to get him too. I would love WR upgrades but IMO this class wasn’t going to yield one where I picked. I am set at TE for 2023 My Defense is good but not great so could use DT, DE help there for sure. And wanted Carter before he went so early.
After all the trade downs, I left myself with a very specific list of targets:
2.08 (22 overall) Will Anderson, DE (ADP 16) or Josh Downs, WR (ADP 23) - Knew I would likely have to trade up for Anderson and tried unsuccessfully to do so. When Achane (ADP 12) was still available, I pivoted to him over Downs. Probably a mistake.
3.08 (36) Chase Brown, RB (ADP 29) or Jalen Carter, DT (ADP 31) - Hoped Carter would slide as DTs tend to not be overly valued in TOCOL and thought the off-the-field concerns would help also. Figured at worst I take Brown as Mixon insurance. Was completely wrong on the availability of both. Took Hyatt (ADP 24) who IMO fell too far, although I have no idea if he even knows how to run a route LOL
4.08 (50) Stetson Bennett, QB (ADP 46) - Didn't expect him to be gone by 4.08, even though I knew his ADP was a few slots before I picked. Probably should have moved up here. Don't think he's great but he's a UGA legend so I wanted him. Shrug
5.07 (63) Calijah Kancey, DE (ADP 71) - well after missing on most everyone I wanted in Round 2 and 3, I just reached for him at 4.08 instead of hoping he made it to 63. Instead I took Tyler Scott who everyone was touting as a potential sleeper contributor among mid-round WRs in the NFL draft and some FF analysts liked much more than his ADP. Personally, I know little about him.
6.08 (78) Wanted a DE here, either BJ Ojulari (ADP 93) or Isaiah Foskey (ADP 106). Landed Foskey after Ojulari went about 10 picks prior. SackSEER likes Foskey quite a bit, relative to the other DEs in this class.
7.08 (92) Had no plan here. Don't have available roster spots for these last two picks. Probably should have traded them for a 6th next season. Instead, I took Puka Nacua, WR (ADP 66) who I know nothing about but has a cool name
8.08 (106) Again, no plan except maybe a lottery ticket QB. Was actually leaning toward a different QB with the pick but figured if Kyler misses time, perhaps Clayton Tune (ADP 85) gets the chance to show what he can do, given a new coaching staff, poor team, and journeyman status of Colt McCoy. Honestly, my plan was to use the Kyler injury to try and trade tune to the Kyler owner ASAP. Only I didn't pay attention to the fact that the Kyler owner is Yoda who literally never even acknowledges any trades I offer him. So will probably just cut Tune.
Overall, I really dislike my class but that was likely bound to happen after I decided to focus on next year's class instead. I did land Calijah Kancey, who I hope can be a pass rushing DT for me. I doubt any of the rest of them contribute much at all in the foreseeable future. Most feel like bottom of the roster depth fodder to me.
But I have 4 first round picks next year... in a class that I feel is certainly shaping up to be significantly better than this one. There are at least 2 QBs I significantly prefer from an FF perspective to any of the ones in this class (Richardson's upside notwithstanding) I prefer Bijan to next year's top 3-4 RBs but prefer all of them to the other RBs in this class. I greatly prefer the WRs next year. I think the top 2 TEs are significantly better than Kincaid and Mayer.
So yeah, I punted on this year's class in the hopes that I can acquire 2-4 players next year that I prefer to anyone I could have acquired at 1.08 this year.

I pulled an LA Rams and traded my entire future for one more shot at glory with Captain Tom leading my charge. In the end, I wasted the career of Zeke, Melvin Gordon and the twilight of Brady's legacy trying for a win now approach. The trade for Antonio Brown was really the death blow and karma paid me a visit for giving that criminal a chance. So, in back to back years, I didn't have much in the way of draft capital and the next few seasons will be rough.
But, hope springs eternal! Last year, I punted on offense and tried to load up on quality defenders. Aidan Hutchinson should give me a bona fide stud DE for 10+ years and Kayvon Thibodeaux was explosive down the stretch. Long a weakness, DE should be strong for me the next few years. Didn't get to see much of Jordan Davis as he got injured early, but with his talent on that defense, I think I have a solid DT to anchor me.
I'm perpetually weak at LB. I keep trying to draft 'em, but they somehow morph into DEs overnight. I keep striking out trying to find 3 down ILBs in the draft.
Mid draft, it was apparent I needed to sell off my best assets and begin the rebuild. Mark Andrews and Mike Williams caught the eyes of some dance partners and while I'm not sure I got any true treasures back, I was able to add some young WRs and a TE with some pedigree. I lost the Ravens' top weapon in the pass game, but gained 2 young WRs in Bateman (trade) and Flowers (draft) that were 1st round picks and should mesh well with their richly rewarded QB who I'm hoping will be motivated to play a full season. Elijah Moore gets fresh life in Cleveland; maybe he helps Watson regain his pre-rape form. I wanted to draft Wan'Dale Robinson last year, but missed out. Happy to get him in a trade.
Life after Brady will be pretty rough. My QB options are Daniel Jones and Sam Howell. Woooof. I knew I wasn't in position to get a stud QB this year, but that's okay. I plan on losing every game this year and will use my 2024 draft to fill that need - hello Caleb Williams! I think Caleb is a much better NFL prospect than any of the QBs in 2023 draft and if I miss out on him, Drake Maye or Quinn Ewers would work. I could also chase Marvin Harrison Jr. since I drafted his daddy in our inaugural draft 20 (TWENTY) years ago. I threw darts on the wall this year grabbing Stetson Bennett, Jake Haener and Aidan O'Connell. Maybe Bennett is the heir to Stafford? I watched Haener carve up the Ducks live and made a mental note to keep his name filed away. He's got a great arm and is smart as a whip.
RB is a nuts show for me. I have Tony Pollard and a bucket full of yuck. I'll have to address that at some point too, but I plan on being bad for at least 2 years.
Don't be a stranger if you see a vet on my squad and want to make an offer. Guys like Tyler Boyd, Cordarrelle Patterson, Tony Pollard, DeForest Buckner could all be had if you find yourself in need this season.
Enjoy your summer!
