This year: Unlimited IR for COVID related. Increase regular IR to 5. All years: Increase regular IR to 5. Hard stop, no trading to circumvent IR cap. Doug, that's good feedback. I think this sounds like "Yes, but revisit in the offseason." What did you select in the poll? Since I'm posting as a guest, I can't vote in the actual poll. My vote, whatever it is, is: Unlimited IR for COVID related only (there is a separate designation, so we use it)...the unlimited nature shouldn't be used for traditional IR spots. Regular IR increase from 3 to 5. (Immediate or in the future, I don't care), but must always be strictly enforced with roster. No trading to bypass.

I wholly oppose unlimited IR for any reason.
We KNOW there will be a few guys in this league who pick up and stash IR players. I can probably name them.
That's not what the rule is being designed to accommodate.
Only people who have opted out for COVID or are put on COVID IR should be eligible for the expanded IR spots.

Unlimited IR for 2020 season. Players must be designated by NFL as on IR. If the NFL takes them off IR, the fantasy owner has to add them to their 42 man roster or cut them. I agree with all of this. I would vote for the changes but agree with this also.

Is this saying no to PUP? PUP would theoretically be as it always has, which I don't believe was an allowable IR designation. That said, I would have no issue making PUP players eligible if it was widely favored. rg We've never officially said it in the by-laws (though i did ask for them to be changed as such), but it has been common practice for years that PUP qualifies as IR ffwarroom.proboards.com/thread/3556/ir-ruleffwarroom.proboards.com/post/15256/threadThere is pretty much no difference as far as our league is concerned between someone on PUP and IRDTR. They are out for a minimum period of time and may or may not come back. If they did come back, you'd have to make room on your roster for them.

That's 13 votes for and 0 against with the majority of those wanting to revisit in the off-season. Let's do this.

Everybody, I've changed the bylaws for IR to the language below based on all of the votes and feedback within this thread. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. rg "Injured Reserve Per the discussion in the thread ffwarroom.proboards.com/thread/4143/ir-rule-read-me-vote?page=1 the following changes to the IR rule have been adopted for the 2020 season to address both COVID-19 and ongoing issues with the previous IR rule. The non-COVID portions of this rule change will be revisited in the offseason and modified/voted upon as necessary. Teams may place up to FIVE (5) players per season on their Injured Reserve list. Once placed on Injured Reserve, players must be reactivated if they are reactivated by their NFL team prior to any other IR moves being made by that owner. This rule also applies to the COVID IR discussed below. Additionally, for the 2020, there will be an unlimited number of IR spots (on top of the 5 mentioned above) specifically for COVID IR designations. This includes players that have opted out of the 2020 season and/or players that are placed on the COVID IR during the season. Owners must reactivate players if they are reactivated by their NFL team prior to any other IR moves being made by that owner. Players may be placed on Injured Reserve only if listed on a NFL teams injury report as doubtful or out in consecutive weeks OR if a player has been put on Injured Reserve by his NFL team. This applies to both normal IR, IR-designated to return, PUP, the new "short term IR" designation the NFL implemented in 2020, and COVID IR. Since both the normal IR rule changes and the COVID IR are new to TW this season there will be situations where the applicability of these new rules is not clear. In all situations the guiding principle for how to handle a situation will be that any use of the IR rule may not be primarily a way to get around the 42-man roster limit. Any trade, add/drop, deactivation, or reactivation of an IR player must account for the 42-man roster limit. All owners should ask for clarification ahead of making any IR move they have questions about. Once the season is over teams must waive either the player(s) listed on Injured Reserve or player(s) on the active roster in order to adjust their rosters back to the forty-two man limit. Teams must be cut down to 42 players maximum by the Monday following the Super Bowl. (Edited 3-April-2014) Should a player listed on your Injured Reserve list be submitted in a lineup, he will receive ZERO points for the week(s) played illegally. Continued mistakes of this nature will result in the Commissioner of your league declaring that player a Free Agent. Players injured in camps or practice prior to the season may be placed placed on your Injured Reserve and will not count against your forty-two man active roster."

I am archiving the previous IR language here in case I need it this offseason.
"Injured Reserve
Teams may place up to three players per season on their Injured Reserve list. Once placed on Injured Reserve, players are ineligible to play again that season. Once placed on Injured Reserve, players may not be dropped from that team's roster (15-August-2016).
Players may be placed on Injured Reserve only if listed on a NFL teams injury report as doubtful or out in consecutive weeks OR if a player has been put on Injured Reserve by his NFL team.
Once the season is over teams must waive either the player(s) listed on Injured Reserve or player(s) on the active roster in order to adjust their rosters back to the forty-two man limit. Teams must be cut down to 42 players maximum by the Monday following the Super Bowl. (Edited 3-April-2014)
Should a player listed on your Injured Reserve list be submitted in a lineup, he will receive ZERO points for the week(s) played illegally. Continued mistakes of this nature will result in the Commissioner of your league declaring that player a Free Agent.
Players injured in camps or practice prior to the season may be placed on your Injured Reserve and will not count against your forty man active roster."

Some teams need to get to 42-man rosters as players come off IR. I just had to make a couple of moves myself.
Once placed on Injured Reserve, players must be reactivated if they are reactivated by their NFL team prior to any other IR moves being made by that owner. This rule also applies to the COVID IR discussed below.
