How should we handle giving out the teams? I know in the past a dice roll has given each new member an already set roster, I think that is outdated and unfair. I say we go with a dispersal draft that can run in one or two days, Thor and I can manage it, allow no trading into, during, or with teams involved until the draft is done.
I think this will do to things make the league much more active as well as provide so much needed excitement/life into the league. I know Hoffs and SBrew are both very active and good owners, I am also sure Tom's friend is coming in here to give me another check next season either.
We have time but we are running a little behind some of the other leagues, lets get this rolling so we can get on with our rookie draft which once again I do not have a first round pick.
Merlin, I am sure you will complain because this didn't happen when you were came into the league, but two wrongs does not make a right. Let's let these three owners enter split up the rosters and make Ironman 2 overly active again.
any opinions on this:

Bowbie and I spoke yesterday about this. I went with the "random assignment" method simply because our past history was that you got a whole team as is (heck, that's how I got my current team). Other leagues typically do a draft.
I really have no opinion on which we should do as they both have merits. My concern is we have had little owner involvement in the past several months. As for draft timing, 1.1 belongs to a brand new owner and while the choice at 1.1 may seem obvious, he may want to market the pick a bit (assuming we say you inherit a team).
So, please give your 2 cents. New guys, please give your input as well.

I wasn't for a dispersal draft in TOCOL when we had 2 replacements last year. We did it because the league voted for it against my better judgment.
Thank Christ the league has better judgment than my better judgment. The dispersal draft went very smoothly (and very quickly) and both teams ended up being very, very competitve (one went to the finals). In addition, the rest of the league had a blast watching it and commenting.
After our experience, I'd highly recommend a dispersal draft.

I'd prefer a dispersal draft since there are multiple new owners. If we could set it up to take place in an afternoon when we are all available it could probably be done within a few hours or less.

I've had 2 dispersal drafts in 3 years in IM3 and both went fine. In fact, 3 of the IM2 owners (myself, MartianMan and Hoffs) were involved.

2 of the 3 new owners have said they are fine with a dispersal draft, but Hoffs can't do it until the week of 5/18. Since 1.1 is part of this dispersal draft, that means the rookie draft would not start until after then.
So, let's assume we have a dispersal draft on 5/18 and rookie draft will start once 1.1 is picked by someone in the dispersal draft (assuming I have all owners paid up).
I will post the rules for the dispersal draft as soon as I can. I'm swamped at work right now.

If waiting is a problem I'm fine with my team. Then we can start the rookie draft sooner which would be good.

I just did the dispersal draft in IM3 as Thor mentioned, and it worked great for us, I thought.
